The friendship between Granell (A Coruña) and Rubia Barcia (Ferrol) began in Madrid, where they both were studying: Granell, music and Rubia Barcia to become an Arabist. Granell was a member of the P.O.U.M. Rubia Barcia was a socialist. Spains civil war separated them, but the met up again in the USA. Granell was in New York and Rubia Barcia in Los Angeles. This exhibition arose from the extensive correspondence between them (sixties to nineties) and mainly features Granells collaboration as an illustrator with the ten works he created for Rubia Barcias book of poetry, Umbral de sueños.
