The Museum’s Education Departed was created in 1997, coinciding with the presentation of the “Esteban Francés” exhibition. From then on, different activities have been organised in relation to temporary exhibitions, from guided visits to workshops that reflect on the works on display, involving a variety of creative exercises.
The department’s main objective is providing visitors or groups with more extensive information on the exhibitions, thereby facilitating greater understanding regarding them. To that end, guided visits by history of art students are available for individuals.
Workshop-visits are aimed at groups visiting our museum, by appointment, and are adapted according to each group’s specific characteristics.
A tour of the exhibitions is followed by reflexive activities, leading to different plastic exercises.
A room has been especially prepared for this activity, which often becomes an exhibition of the work carried out, especially in the case of children.
The workshop-visits (in Galician, Spanish) last for approximately an hour and a half and should be arranged by telephone.
In parallel to these activities, temporary workshops for public of different ages. These workshops have the objective of turning the museum into a place, not only for the preservation, investigation and exhibition of works of art but also for creation.
The series of workshops are multidisciplinary, imparting all kinds of techniques regarding plastic creation.
There are also permanent workshops aimed at children and centred on special projects.
- Workshop-visits are available Tuesday-Thursday from 11 am to 2 pm and from 4 to 7 pm.
- A maximum number of 25 participants is recommended.
- Groups should be accompanied by teaching staff.
- Group punctuality is important in order to complete the activities.
