This individual exhibition is based on an interdisciplinary approach by way of video, performance, photography and drawing, featuring a reflection on identity and one’s own existence. The exhibition consists of two new artworks that were supported by A Coruña City Council Grants for artistic creation by individual artists registered in A Coruña 2023, Nos límites da corporalidade and Impermanencia.

Nos límites da corporalidade proposes a contemporary reflection on the relationship between the body and identity, understanding the body as an essential and inseparable part of the person. By means of a collective piece of video art, the unity between body and soul is vindicated and an appeal is made to recover corporal listening in an increasingly digitized social context, which tends to reduce the body to a mere tool.

The proposal questions the growing disconnection with nature and the physical world, as well as the utilitarian vision of the body, recalling that it expresses and communicates through its own processes and transformations. The landscapes of the A Coruña coastline become the symbolic setting for a collective body and a social fabric that is committed to sustainable, solid and resilient ways of life.

On the other hand, Impermanencia explores the relationship between identity and social environment, delving into the way in which people adapt and show themselves to feel part of a group. Taking as a starting point the photograph O principio (2006), from the Fiesta Blanca series, the piece dialogues with Zygmunt Bauman’s concept of “liquid modernity,” marked by uncertainty and constant transformation.

Through a minimalist visual and sound proposal, identity is represented as something undergoing change, composed of multiple layers. The work contrasts Māori facial tattoos, as symbols of an enduring sense of belonging, with the transience of current trends, using 3D animation to make visible the idea of liquid identities typical of contemporaneity.

Atención plena also features a series of drawings and photographs that expand its content.
