Picture: Paco Pestana. The short flight of a quail

1 february – 31 march, 2024
Rooms 4 and 5. First floor

This exhibition, curated by Cristina Carballedo, is based on revisiting the plastic and vital project of the artist Paco Pestana, by means of an exhibition that revolves around works, documentation, and other elements of the artist, which belong to private collections, highlighting the intense personality of this artist in a journey through art based on friendship. It is not an anthological exhibition, but an emotional journey through artworks by people who shared friendship, work, experiences, or projects with the artist.
In this sense, a multidisciplinary project is conceived that ranges from the great sculptural contribution to works in other media. Rounding off the exhibition is an audiovisual section in which the creator shows part of his plastic discourse as well as his personal stance centred on art and concepts such as identity and territory.

On the other hand, the exhibition has a detonating intention, trying to vindicate the work of a fundamental artist in contemporary Galician plastic arts who established concepts that continue to function as the basis of new contributions to current generations.

Pestana was an artist who was difficult to fit in and who transcended his own work, which, in the space of the Eugenio Granell Foundation, acquires a special meaning, since he found in surrealism a common place with which to identify. Starting with the exhibition in the early 2000s, Paco Pestana. In the wake of delirium, he began a personal relationship with Granell’s work and with the Foundation itself.
