TE MIRO Y ME VEO. LORETO BLANCO SALGUEIRO

October, 1 – November, 22, 2020
Rooms 4 and 5. First Floor

Loreto Blanco is a Galician artist who was born in Moaña. She has a degree and PhD from the University of the Basque Country. She has been a lecturer in the University of Vigo’s Faculty of Fine Art since 1993.
The images on display in the exhibition Temiro y me veo(I look at you and see myself) arise from a close connection to and great affection for nature, which she experiences profoundly, giving rise to beings that she depicts and listens to. She not only presents the images of these beings but also their messages. Messages that invite spectators to look inside themselves, to seek greater self-awareness. Each portrait questions us about our existence, our shadows, our truth. By looking at them, we see ourselves and we can transcend, undertaking an interior journey towards the deepest part of our being.
They are portraits that arise from photographic moments in nature and which, after being digitally processed, are then painted on canvas.
Her work has a mystic, spiritual gaze, being conceived as a means of seeing oneself reflected in what we look at. Work as a potential mirror in which we can see our own reflection. Art as a way of raising awareness. Art as a vehicle for personal growth.
The artist’s sensitivity has taken her beyond what she perceives with her eyes, has connected her with the invisible, enabling her to understand that different planes of knowledge coexist with different planes of existence, to which we can gain access.
