Granells Library, the exhibition curated by Natalia Fernández, Director of the Granell Foundation, will open on March 15 at 8 pm.
The exhibition will highlight the artists huge personal library, created by Eugenio Granell together with his wife Amparo Segarra.
The exhibition maps out, based on a careful selection of volumes chosen by the curator, many of which have been dedicated, correspondence belonging to the artists personal archive, as well as significant articles, magazines or photographs.
The curator, by means of all of this documentation, gives us the coordinates to find our way around the map of an entire life of knowledge.
The exhibition will occupy most of the rooms in the Pazo de Bendaña building.
The exhibition also features some of Granells paintings related to the world of literature. There will be books by and on Granell, and in the curators words, writings by good surrealist friends such as Bretón, Duchamp, Péret, Lam… Other rooms will display books about literature, surrealism, politics (especially those related to the P.O.U.M. and the Civil War) and art. The exhibition features other subjects of interest to the artist such as alchemy, philosophy, sociology and psychiatry; there are also references to subjects such as bullfighting or the conquest of the American West.
